November 21, 2005 9Gs Organizational Excellence workshop coming in January . . .9Gs president Bob Vosburgh will be one of the featured presenters at the CANYS 2006 Legislative & Leadership Conference, January 17-18. Bob will engage you and your chamber staff with the Organizational Excellence assessment and workshop, along with personal debriefs for chamber executives. Have a look at the dynamic presentation here: www.9gs.org/workshops/orgex.htm In the next few days, each chamber executive will receive an e-mail message from 9G Enterprises. It will contain instructions for completing a chamber assessment survey. The survey questions probe internal and external chamber organizational dynamics: balance, communication clarity, empowerment, accountability, work atmosphere, recognition, etc. It’s designed to give chamber leaders a very complete view of how their chamber’s doing organizationally. When you get this e-mail from 9Gs, forward it on to your full chamber staff. Make sure each staff member uses your assigned chamber code (located in the e-mail) when filling out the online survey. Any chamber with five or more participants in the survey is entitled to a one-on-one debrief with Bob to go over individual chamber results at the January conference. Got questions? Association Health Plans . . .A compromise in Association Health Plan (AHP) legislation has been proposed by Senator Michael Enzi (R-WY). Senator Enzi’s compromise legislation would put states, not the federal government, in charge of regulating these plans. The new legislation re-brands AHPs as Small Business Health Plans (SBHPs), and would not allow associations to self-insure their SBHP plans. Senator Enzi’s press release is available here: ENZI-PR112005. A good synopsis from the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal is
available here: www.bizjournals.com/sanjose/stories/2005/11/14/story3.html?t=printable. 2006 minimum wage poster . . .The Department of Labor has issued a new poster for the 2006 New York

Tell us about it. . .Wally Hart, president of the Fulton County Regional Chamber of Commerce & Industry needs your help: “I am interested in creating a ‘seasonal membership’ category. We are in a tourist driven area with a select number of businesses that are operate only seasonally. We have been trying to get them to join the chamber or remain members of the chamber but they have concerns paying full dues for operating only three or four months of the year. Does anyone have a policy for ‘seasonal’ members? I have some ideas but would like to hear other thoughts.” E-mail Wally at: president@fultoncountyny.org.
