E-Advocacy Update: Stop the Corporate Tax Hike! . . .
As
of today, April 17, more than 1,520 of
your colleagues and neighbors had used the E-Advocacy system
to send some 7,690 faxes
to legislators, urging them to reject the "New Jersey Plan" of
tax hikes.
As you are aware, the plan is reminiscent of the corporate tax
increase adopted by New Jersey last summer, in an (unsuccessful)
effort to end that state’s budget difficulties. Like the
New Jersey plan, it is being spun as an effort to close "loopholes";
but like the New Jersey plan, it would impose a new gross receipts
tax and many other new tax burdens on the state’s corporations.
As of now, the Rochester
Business Alliance, Buffalo Niagara Partnership, Greater
Syracuse,
Orange County, Chautauqua County, Genesee
County, Westchester County,
and Rockland Business Association Chambers
led participation by their members.
More supporters are becoming E-Advocates each day. Make sure
your voice isn't left out! E-mail maggie.moree@bcnys.org with
any questions on how to participate.

firms and individuals located throughout Yorktown. The chamber
serves all of the five business hamlets, Jefferson Valley, Shrub
Oak, Mohegan Lake, Crompond and Yorktown Heights. To send a note

a new resource for planners, public
officials, community organizations and others who need to know about the people
in their neighborhood! The

Albany has a MAP NEW YORK GIS system project which provides current
data on key social and economic indicators. This sophisticated
series of web
pages is useful in identifying population, age, income, etc. for
key service
areas. Data are provided for counties, cities/towns, and census
tracts in New
York State. Visit http://mumford.cas.albany.edu/nysi or
